National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Seattle Sounders FC announced on Friday the launch of a 2016 breast cancer awareness calendar, available for purchase to benefit the American Cancer Society. The calendar, which features Sounders FC players and breast cancer survivors clad in a variety of pink costumes, costs $20 with all proceeds benefiting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Seattle, the local affiliate of the American Cancer Society. FIGHT and WIN

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  Breast cancer is also the second-leading cause of death among women. With statistics like these, it’s easy to see that breast cancer is a disease that affects us all.

To spread awareness about this serious issue, we decided to do something a little different this season: In September, several Sounders FC players and staff set aside their Rave Green jerseys for some pink in support of the ongoing fight against breast cancer. During the shoot, we were lucky enough to meet several breast cancer survivors, and were struck by their stories of courage.

Join me and my teammates as we raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer in an effort to end this disease. All proceeds from this calendar will support the American Cancer Society and their ongoing mission to find a cure.

Together, we will fight & win.
