Corpse Flower ‘Alice’ Blooms At Chicago Botanic Garden

There’s a big stink at the Chicago Botanic Garden, and it’s all about Alice the corpse flower. Unlike Spike, this one has bloomed, reports WBBM’s Bob Roberts. Alice was her most pungent shortly after opening but was stinky enough that the smell of dirty gym socks wafted all day through the hallways of the garden’s Regenstein Center.

Alice is the first Titan Arum to bloom at the garden. Last month, Spike teased but never opened. Some of Spike’s pollen was used to pollinate Alice.
The Chicago Botanic Garden will be open until 2 a.m. for those wishing to catch a whiff of Alice.
